I am not a fan of machines like tractors and cutters. They are so loud and sometimes it feels to me like they run on my joy, stealing it away, because they cut all the wild beauty and do it so loudly!!

Its like your own secret forest, in a way, and who wouldn't love that? XO

Exactly that Danielle but also they limit the act of self seeding, each year there ar less and less flowers and wild plants until eventually… well I don’t even want to think about that😔

Beautiful, Susie! I think it is lovely you left the weeds and decided instead, to give in to their wildness. It feels like they inspired you a little bit. I couldn't help but think, with the help of your pictures, that everything wouldn't be quite as beautiful without the weeds and that you are blessed by the wildlife that enjoy them. Gorgeous!! XO

Kind thanks Danielle, The absolute truth is, if I could buy vegetables that were not genetically modified, untreated with chemicals and actually tasted as they should, I wouldn’t bother with growing them at all, I’d have a garden filled with beautiful weeds and be just as happy!

I love their willfulness! I’m dreading next week when the commune men are due to arrive with their tractors and verge cutters… the lanes are a riot of gorgeousness at the moment, I love that!

Eve joy the rest of your day xox

Oh but the weeds can be beautiful indeed!

Indeed, usually even more beautiful than the cultivated variety which I often find far too gaudy and brash! thank you so much for reading.

That image of the golden barley field is breathtaking, as are your words. I'm so glad the sun came out for your 5 day break. ☀️

Debs it truly was breathtaking, a slice of heaven before returning to work that is carrying me through the 'once again' grey and wet weather! thank goodness for those five days!

I hope your sky is blue today - thank you xx

A beautiful piece in a run of beautiful pieces. Thank you for sharing your hill with us all. And yes to wilding. Helping nature thrive.

Thank you Barrie, we were wholly blessed by those five days of summer feels, I still can't quite believe they happened when I look out of the window today! They didn't leave much time for writing but I had to share that evening... I must remember to read it again myself when I feel the weight of the days to follow resting too heavily on my shoulders...

Hoping you have blue sky where you are! S x

I, too, have let the wild retake edges of Camont. The tree tall wisteria in the orchard, the coming harvest for nettle seeds which nightingales feed on, and the surprise tall red poppy that appeared are the rewards. Thank so much for sharing your wild rewards with us so beautifully.

Ahh, you too...I suffer agonising indecisions over weeds every year Kate, I too have nettles aplenty! I use some for green mulch, some for a stinking concoction for my tomatoes and the rest I leave for the nightingales who sing their thanks day and night... poppies this year are few, I found just one in the barely while I walked, a brave survivor of late frost, perhaps more will come but I think, now, not.

Thank you for reading, I hope your day is a blue sky day and. not the blanket grey we have here. x

Utterly magical, beautifully poetic. I adore every word Susie. Indigo and charcoal skies, whispering silver birch, a list of all my favourite wild flowers, gold brushed fields. I feel transported to your side beautiful Susie 💛💛💛

Thank you always for taking a little wander with me Emily, this was a particularly memorable few moments in the wild - made yet more special by warm air and dry feet, by swallows too, that I forgot to mention - how could I? a thousand thanks for sharing too lovely xx

It was glorious wandering with you, inhaling each moment with exuberance. As you know I have a special fondness for wildflowers, their ability to survive in harsh conditions while retaining their beauty! ✨💖✨

I wish I could have filmed that evening Kimberly… not just the colours and the wildness but the deep smiling soulfulness that coursed through me with every step - it was an unhurried (rare) and sublimely beautiful time spent in nature not often found, even the much missed swallows made a fleeting, swooping appearance. They deserve a letter all to themselves though…. Thank you sweet soul… always with love xxx

"It was a beautiful dream…

But, delightful dilemmas prevail…"

Here then is the fulcrum from which everything else is leveraged into place.

Simply exquisite, Susie. Thank you.

I blushingly admit the truth in your words David, thank you for reading between the weeds.

The walk that evening was memorably exquisite, I would challenge anyone not to have been drawn to profundities on returning…

Wishing you wonders in your day my friend…

Ahhh Susie, such poetry. Thank you for this, it is truely "laced in gold".

I love the Rachel Carson quote. Will keep that up my sleeve for those who question my beautiful weeds. 😊

I am so happy for you that you have 5 days off and wonderful weather. Enjoy your wild walks and gorgeous garden. xx
