Thank you Debs - two days to go and the clamour of classes will be ringing in my ears again... all the while I must continue working, life will rarely be calm, but then what would I do if it were? 😂
Happy New Year, Susie - you summed up beautifully the melancholy I invariably feel as we move from one year into the next. Your video is gorgeous - the dreich has its own appeal 🙂
Huge apologies for the delay in replying Lynn, it’s strange the emotions the new your installs in us, ever since I can remember I’ve always rather dreaded these new days arriving. As a teenager and young adult I would shy off all invitations because I knew I would be the gloomy party pooper in the corner, ruining everyone’s evening...
Thank you for watching the video, I’m delighted you enjoyed it... I may make one every month rather than my usual letter which is too heavy for the email.
We have another dreich weekend ahead, for photos I love it’s sobriety for working less so...
Belated wishes for happy new days to you also 🤍🕊️x
It's a strange time of year all round; that sense of limbo. But then that is probably a human construct - if we didn't have a calendar marking the end of one year and the start of another, we would probably all just trundle along as normal.
Thank you for what you do here in "A Hill and I". A beautiful offering to the world.
Some words came to mind as I read your post. They are Mary Oliver's words. I don't own a book of her poetry yet ( on my long list of special books to buy) so forgive me if I have slightly misquoted...
"Tell me what you plan to do with your one wild and precious life today..........No more waiting for some day. Today is the day you are waiting for."
Thank you always Jo, I adore the the poetry of Mary Oliver, every word she ever wrote resonates loudly and clearly, oh to have her gift with words.. I am deeply complimented that a few should come to mind as you read some of my own far less brilliant, but sent out with equal love... and the line you quoted from ‘the summer day’ is a favorite - the whole poem a reminder for us to pay attention to the small and wondrous.. I try, I really try!
It also reminds me of this, by Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”
Live authentically, with passion, and with kindness be at peace with the world but take notice🕊️
I do hope you’re feeling better Jo... sending love and happy new year wishes again! X
"Be yourself. Everyone else is taken." is a quote I have sitting right under my Mary Oliver quote in my long list of favourites!
Thank you, I am really struggling to "be with" this illness. It is completely lying me flat except the precious few moments I get up to see the moon sink and the sun rise. When you are sick it makes you realise how much you usually get done in the day. This is such a lesson for me on all the things I preach to others - accept the present moment, let go of the list of "to do's". xx
The “wrong words and lost moments” are as divine as the ones you celebrated. I bow to all your true moments, an ever-cycling of light and dark, expansion and retreat. Wishing you peace and abundant presence in your year ahead friend.
I have read words recently that have caused questions of such deep doubt in my tiny world, perhaps they too were wrong words but try as I might they will not dissipate. With the lines still lingering in an unclear path you words do much to cheer this weary soul. Your kind encouragement Kimberly is a soothing balm and for that I can’t thank you enough. I wish you also peace and gentle days with love 🕊️x
The "turning pages of moments" video is brilliantly coupled with your thoughts and Emerson's poem, expressing the passing of 2023 while embarking upon 2024. Thank you for your magical words of kindness, hope and peace. I feel your light and love, always, now and forever. XXOO
Thank you always for your friendship darling, you know well how I value and love your dear presence in my life... even ‘à distance’ as it is, you are and always will be a magical light - kindred souls for ever 🤍Happy new days, May they all be filled with love and light, peace and kindness... all my love 🤍🕊️🥂xxxx
I’m thrilled you think so Deirdre, this last month I’ve had the devils job to catch a ray of light... wishing you wonderful new days also, happy 2024 🥂🕊️
A heartfelt coupling of video and quote - I wish you a magical, and perhaps more relaxing 2024
Thank you Debs - two days to go and the clamour of classes will be ringing in my ears again... all the while I must continue working, life will rarely be calm, but then what would I do if it were? 😂
Have a lovely weekend xxx
You too. Enjoy it. I'm off for a sea swim. Brr 🥶
