Happy New Year Susie.

Thank you for what you do here in "A Hill and I". A beautiful offering to the world.

Some words came to mind as I read your post. They are Mary Oliver's words. I don't own a book of her poetry yet ( on my long list of special books to buy) so forgive me if I have slightly misquoted...

"Tell me what you plan to do with your one wild and precious life today..........No more waiting for some day. Today is the day you are waiting for."

It's all here. Right now.

Jo xx

Thank you always Jo, I adore the the poetry of Mary Oliver, every word she ever wrote resonates loudly and clearly, oh to have her gift with words.. I am deeply complimented that a few should come to mind as you read some of my own far less brilliant, but sent out with equal love... and the line you quoted from ‘the summer day’ is a favorite - the whole poem a reminder for us to pay attention to the small and wondrous.. I try, I really try!

It also reminds me of this, by Oscar Wilde, “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”

Live authentically, with passion, and with kindness be at peace with the world but take notice🕊️

I do hope you’re feeling better Jo... sending love and happy new year wishes again! X

Morning Susie,

"Be yourself. Everyone else is taken." is a quote I have sitting right under my Mary Oliver quote in my long list of favourites!

Thank you, I am really struggling to "be with" this illness. It is completely lying me flat except the precious few moments I get up to see the moon sink and the sun rise. When you are sick it makes you realise how much you usually get done in the day. This is such a lesson for me on all the things I preach to others - accept the present moment, let go of the list of "to do's". xx
