Susie, you ushered me right into your every sensation and feeling--that pull to and effort not to touch her hair was especially immediate. I wondered about this girl making her way, sensing where to sit; she must have felt your tender heart and so, 'called' to sit beside you.
I echo Safar: "superb submission and can see why it was accepted." To many more . . .
My most heartfelt and belated thanks Renée, the girl with the strawberry blonde hair and freckles was to become my greatest friend, as were her sisters, one of which moved here to France to be closer always. The bond between us was immediate, perhaps, as you say, she felt my love that day? I know only that it is still one of the happiest moments of my life…
I send love back and hope this new month of days is kind to you xx
Absolutely with you there James… freckles are the coolest thing ever, I used to borrow my moms brown eyeliner and draw them on I wanted them so badly! Now I’ve got them naturally, except at my age they’re no longer called freckles! Isn’t that just typical! 😉
Congratulations, so well deserved! All will go as it is supposed to, wonderful 🙏 And I will certainly look up Tany Shadrick. Have a beautiful week dear Susie!
Many thanks lovely Elske, I’m still completely overwhelmed by having been accepted. Now all I need to do is carry on… 🤞🏽Sending love - I hope life is treating you well! ♥️x
Congratulations! Such a beautiful story told that I felt it had actually happened to me. I had to get up before I realised I was not on that bus, not in the late 70s.
Thank you so much Miranda… this was nerve racking work so I’m even more delighted to hear you say that!
Haha, maybe in due course you will! Though if you check the rules for this particular piece, no names are allowed! I will say though, she is still my BFF.
I hope your course is off to a fabulous start ? With love xX
I love that you're still friends. 🥰 The course is going well! Week 3 opens tomorrow morning so I'm just making the final tweaks to the content. The participants are all so lovely. It feels joyful to be making those tweaks.
Thanks heaps Jo, knowing this short price of writing, which tore at my nerves like no other… was accepted makes me still still teary eyed emoji, I should have added your name (and many others probably too) you could easily do this! X
xx I had a look at what Tanya Shadrick does after you mentioned this here. I hadn't heard of her before. What a generous offering she gives. Really wonderful. Yes, would love to have a go. Will add it to the list. So much writing to be done, so much life to be lived, and then those other time fillers such as job, family, and home also ( by no means last on the list as family is number one for me).
Life first always! It’s my rule too Jo, but there is no panic for these stories, as far as I can gather this is an open ended offer. Which makes it even more generous I think! X
I could feel all that childhood awkwardness - wanting to be someone's friend and not knowing how to approach them -so wonderfully portrayed. Superb submission and can see why it was accepted. Congratulations, Susie!
Wonderful, bloody wonderful. I am DElighted that you have slipped into Tanya's community of voices that SO need to be heard. Just love it when the pebble guides the ripples in just the direction they should flow. And loving Obscura. Exactly that. Most uplifting post of the day award ... to YOU, Susie. And your submission is utterly beguiling. Gorgeous.
All thanks and they’re massive, to the person who threw the perfect pebble Barrie! For the suggestion, for making me brave (and I mean brave not courageous). I am completely over the moon… in fact still floating high! Now I just need to touch planet earth again and write the next chapter in the story!
I too have recently come across Tanya Shadrick and have her book at my side. I haven’t been brave enough to submit anything yet but am working up to it (always a slow starter 🙄). I’ve also just listened to her speaking with Dr Sharon Blackie on her Hagitude podcast which was excellent. I will be binging further episodes today! x
You’re welcome PIpp, I can assure you I did not expect to get anywhere at all with this, the writing of all the others is exceptionally good… but you, with your gorgeous metaphors and prose will breeze it I’m sure! X

This story only gets sweeter. Isn’t it amazing how two people can feel a connection so immediately? You became family!
I was always jealous of kids with freckles! They look so striking/cool. ✨

Huge thanks Lisha, I’m over the moon that you enjoyed it! This is definitely something you could do lovely… ♥️
I'll have to check it out! But this is a celebration for you. Well deserved, Susie ❤️
Thank you, Susie! I'll take a look.
Congratulations too! It's a beautiful story. But now I want to know her name ...
Thank you so much Miranda… this was nerve racking work so I’m even more delighted to hear you say that!

Congratulations Susie. So well deserved.
And, a "teary eyed smiling emoji" right back at you.

I still feel it Safar, I was an awkward child, all legs and arms wanting to fit in and having no idea where to start!
I mer a kindred soul that day, it was one of the happiest days of my life!
Thank you so much for your kind words!

Thank you again… so much.
This is the perfect ripple back the way it came, thank you. Encouragement for an encourager

I shall wait with bated breath for your entry Vanessa, do it! If I can you certainly can!
I actually felt quite sick when I posted mine, the quality of writing is phenomenal! X
This is beautiful Susie 💛
Thank you Emily, when I looked at this after hitting post, the actual story felt a little lost!
I waffle on too much! 🫢
I’m glad you found it amidst the waffle lovely - have a great weekend ♥️x
