It’s such an explosive colour time of year isn’t it… please do tag me, I’d love to add some more songs to the concert… they’re far too beautiful to just be left unsung! X
A spring symphony sounds smashing! I haven’t yet heard a cuckoo this year, but it surely won’t be long. The chirping chatter of the blackbirds here always makes me smile, but this weekend I’ll add bleating lambs to the percussion section! 😂
Oh yes please! Let’s have lambs joining the throng too! The cuckoos have been singing their little heads off here… and the Hoopoe too! But my favourites are yet to come, it won’t be long though… x
Your symphony stuns me into silence every time Susie. Please please please publish a book with all your music someday. I will listen to it for the rest of my days.
Bless you my lovely friend from afar - I have thought about a book for the last fifteen years, my friend Pipp who I mention often here sent me a copy of here beautiful photography book at the start of this year, she mentions me inside as someone who inspired her - it was so beautiful I cried and yet still I just can’t quite imagine my own photos in print… and honestly, not only would I not know where to start but then there is the question of time and money ! Both are always a huge stumbling block… I dream of it happening though and I always believe dreams can come true! One day… xxx
Both your symphony here Susie, and David's a couple days ago, are music for the soul.
It's all about the gold here right now and whilst I would love to sprinkle your symphony with golden autumn leaves I have a strong sense that you need to be left to dance in the buds and blossoms. xx
Thanks so much Jo, truthfully, the older I get, the happier I am just to see another season! It really doesn’t matter which any more - David’s photos have a subliminal quality all of their own to me Jo, he finds details where none of us even think to look often, they really are music for the soul… I’m always in a hurry, there never seems to be time for more than a point and hope for the best type of image… sometimes I’m lucky, often I’m not!
What a fantastic way to start the day, an orchestral parade of sunlit delights! I feel inspired, so will have to join in, cautiously humming, at first.
No cuckoo here yet either, our dominant sound is the Iberian green woodpecker.
Please do Safar, I’d love to step into your own spring songs…
Today I heard Hoopoe birds too, do you have those ? And, this evening at last, house martens were darting in and out of the tower at the château. The swifts and swallows won’t be far behind!
I will havé to look up the Iberian green woodpecker, here there are many, they tap away through all the seasons! X
Hoopoes are amazing, but unfortunately, they've not made it to this garden. On the other side of the mountain I used to see them regularly. The green woodpecker is unusual in that you don't often hear it tapping, it's more of a ground feeder. I've yet to see one, but their voices really carry over the valley.
I love watching the martens, swifts and swallows and how they disappear at dusk and the bats take over.
P.S. heard the first cuckoo of the year this morning!
I googled the Iberian green woodpecker, and in fact it’s only slightly different (in markings) from our European green woodpeckers, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the ground though, and yet, strangely, the Hoopoe birds are almost always below the trees rather than above or in them…
I’m still waiting for the swifts and swallows, if indeed they arrive at all, they become fewer and fewer every year…
Oh how wonderful Susie, I have not heard a cuckoo but I saw a swallow on my walk down the lane yesterday and I was delighted. I am lying in bed this morning listening to the birds singing and reading your letter. So wonderful. My Music of March perhaps, could join the orchestra 🤍💚
loveeeeeee this roster, and everything spring! time to be happy, jolly, grateful, magical.
Ahh, thank you. I’m delighted you enjoyed this little concert 🎵🙏🏽
I just keep returning to this post so that my breath can be taken when my eyes land on the buttercup.
Sometimes nature gives these few seconds of perfection to me just so I can share them Renée… xx
And so, how blessed are we. 🙏❤️
Absolute magic, Susie! Such a soulful eye.
And my soul is full and singing and twirling in circles in reading such words as these David, Thank you, an incredibly huge thank you.
Incredibly huge thank you meets incredibly huge 'You're Welcome'. Laughter and smiles ensue.
And they crossed the ether… so fast, and continue!
my favorite is the whimsical waltz 💚
The dance of spring
is a dazzling ditty…
Thank you for reading Darren, it’s good to see you back! 💚🍃
loved this Susie
I got lots of pictures today out on a forest walk -- thd flowers are so exuberant -- will try to write something up later in the week and tag you :)

I almost pressed the like on this, as an appreciation of the response, but how can one say 'like' to fewer and fewer birds.
Your welcoming of spring is a celebration in itself.
A celebration worthy of sharing before the heat of summer arrives… sending songs your way dear Lisha..xx

Oh it could Emily… I will add it this evening when I sit down!
I have been out this morning searching the skies for swallows, still not a sign but in compensation I heard the Hoopoe for the first time !
Wishing you a gorgeous day! X🍃
