I would be a spectator in your game, not a participant for alas my memory would fail me. I adore Nina Simone, never tire hearing her melodic voice after so many decades. Her songs have a lingering presence. Love n hugs!
Forgetting the names is half the fun darling.., everyone does, drunk or otherwise 😜
Nina Simone was magnificent… I have never forgotten that magical evening and still love her dulcet tones just as you do… I was so very fortunate to see her play live 🎶
Ahhh! What an amazing memory Susie. You describe such a special time so evocatively and beautifully.
I love Soho, and Nina Simone!
used to work just above Soho in a photography studio and went in to Soho Square every lunch time to eat my apple. So many wonderful haunts, but Ronnie Scotts holds a very special memory for me too.
I was incredibly young Alex, but Nina Simone was a voice I grew up with and when I was invited to join a young man to see her live, well… you can imagine my excitement! I can remember almost every second of that evening… everything about, Ronnie Scott’s, Soho… it held/holds a strange sort of magic doesn’t it? X
Susie, your hundred words certainly captured old Soho. After reading this, a daydream brushed through the air featuring Murray guiding young girl me through those streets, searching for the best quality fresh fish ...
I was just 18 years old Gabs and yet that evening, which I hadn't thought of in years was suddenly so clear it felt almost as if I were there... Soho left a latent but lasting impression on us both it seems... x
Thanks Barrie are you a blues fan..? Nina Simone was beguiling... I was so very young at the time but even then her voice gave me goosebumps - the young lad that I shared the evening with less so though..! 😝
I have a broad, eclectic taste ... blues, soul, classic 70s rock (not heavy metal) ... Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Sam Cooke - the perfect Sunday afternoon collective
This is a memory I’ll never forget Pipp, I do feel very honored to have seen Nina Simone live… thanks heaps lovely… I hope you’re sitting somewhere cool and calm? Though I doubt it!
We have hideous heat this until Saturday, there was even a wild fire on the next hill yesterday evening, thankfully quickly contained because the wind was blowing this way! 😳
They really are terrifying aren’t they and more and more frequent, this is the third in as many years here! And I know it was small by comparison but the next one might not be...

It does Susie, I think you can't help but absorb the atmosphere of times past.

That game sounds complicated - definitely not one to play when too drunk! Love the story behind the story.
Thank you - It's actually quite easy Debs, the only difficulty, as is often the case, is in the explaining!
I'm still trying to catch up here, so much seems to have changed during the few days I was away!! x
I think you’re an absolute star for coping Pipp, your home seems more like a hotel this summer! I hope you get some peace soon xx
No but it does add much giggling to the game! 🤣
🤣
This is utterly beguiling ... so lovely to have the story of your 5 days with friends, and rosé

That all sounds very familiar..! Enjoy your Sunday afternoon... 🎶
