Hi Susie. Thank you so much for tagging my piece and for your lovely kind words. But more so for alerting me to this beautiful piece you've written. Starting my day reading about your encounters with nature and weather and moods was just wonderful. You have such a way of weaving words and your images are stunning too.
I so enjoyed losing myself in this piece, almost sensing myself in your shoes during your morning walk (complete with sore foot so sending sympathy!). It’s many years since I’ve seen a fox out here in the countryside, and somehow the brazen city lot who don’t bat an eyelid as one passes are a little less notable.
It is so rare that I get to watch a fox here on the hill, they are so wary of any human presence. Not uncommon I know but mores here due almost entirely to certain neighbour who has a pathological hatred of any animal that might fancy chicken for supper - Especially foxes!
Unbelievably, I have never seen a city fox but I have heard they are even more crafty...
I'm glad you enjoyed reading this Vanessa, sore foot and all! x
Nature Notes, memoir, gentle musings ... your writing doesn't need a name for me to relish the way the words unfold, matching the slow unfurling of a new day. The episodes with animals set us humans in the right context, sharing the land with those who know it best, always one step behind them. Love the interwoven reminiscences ... there are more stories to tell, of course ... or not, if they decide to stay behind a knowing smile of personal remembrance. Lovely stuff, Susie.
Good grief you’ve actually rendered me speechless! Err, and that might be a tear I feel too… Thank you, enormously and gratefully for such motivating words Barrie. I’m honestly bowled over by them!
Wonderful meandering through the past and present, always delighted to be involved in your wanderings over, through and about The Hill. Your various encounters with animals and wildlife are lovely blessings, especially with the fox. I'd be skipping the rest of the day, light in heart and spirit. Thank you my Dearest Soul !
Huge thanks darling, I had such a wonderful an uplifting walk that morning, I forgot to mention the rabbits, the bats and the owl that swooped across my path - it was quite extraordinary- I saw the fox again tonight too! He was less inclined to play though.. hugs always x
I Hope you hold on to that calm when you return from your travels Pipp, knowing you the house will be filled to overflowing within 48 hours and you’ll be preparing a banquet ! Thanks heaps lovely... I’m always happy to instill a little peace into life if possible. X
Thank you Marian 🙏🏽🤍🍂

Haha... Well I guess with winter coming we all have more time on our hands for indoor goings on! Hopefully you’ll last at least until spring! 😉
