What a magical otherworldly experience, Susie! That fog, that blanket of mystery, is so unlike anything in my part of the world. Thank you so much for bringing me along in your gorgeous words and pictures! ♥️

I’m delighted to take you wandering with me Jenna, even more so that you enjoy the walk - no fog where you are though? I can’t imagine a life without mornings like these, losing myself in the mystery of fog and mist is such a tonic and inspiration to the soul… I wish I could send a morning bottled up just for you! X♥️X

And so, once again we are so beautifully drawn into your hill, the fog and all it inhabitants.

Huge and rather belated thanks Debs, since posting this we’ve had nothing but very unmysterious rain! And wind…. Happy weekend lovely, it was wonderful to talk to you the other day! X

What an ecstatic ending! Soaring. Transcending. The break-through of opalescence made my own insides shimmer with light. Your words Susie! They move me to no end.

How could I have missed your beautiful words Kimberly, thank you for reading mine… I think the dazzling finale of mornings like these is what draws me even more than the fog, the light entering the labyrinth of all that was previously shrouded, a few moments of pure magic! X

Such beautiful reflections and images, Susie! I love fog too, the mystery it creates, the romance, the new perspectives... It's always magical even when it feels gloomy. It's been rainy with think fog across the top of the hills in Shetland today so reading this I felt like we were on a walk together. 🤍

Ahh bless you Charlene, thank you so much for lovely words, there really is a touch of magic and mystery to wandering in its wispy grey folds isn’t there… I am often inspired to write while I’m walking in fog, of course every words is forgotten by the time I return of course… 😆

I don’t think I could begin to tell you how I would love to walk your Shetland hills with you, whether it be foggy or tipping rain, which is exactly what we’ve had here today, with a good dose of hail thrown in! March is doing its thing!

Enjoy the rest of your evening 🤍x

There is a different kind of magic to the rain, and you captured it marvelously here. 🥲

Thank you Kaitlyn, it’s strange, after a few days I really did begin to enjoy walking in the rain, returning refreshed and surprisingly inspired. Which is fortunate because so far March has been very similar! Wishing you a pleasant rest of your day.. 🤍x

Beautiful wanderings Susie. There is no other way than to get amongst it, I believe, rain, hail, or shine.

Thanks Jo, I’m learning slowly! Very, given my age..😂 I have to admit though some of the best walks I made in February (apart from the one with my daughter of course!) we’re in the rain… soaked to the skin but returning with a head filled with new shiny wet perspectives!

Ah, this is superb. The first Sub stack post I've read this month and only the third since January and I'm so I did. I swear your writing gets better each time I read it, and the photos are just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this. Looking forward to days when I can catch up with your other recent posts, too.

I’m delighted you think so Alex, especially as I have really struggled to keep going this year, despite all evidence to the contrary… I’m terrified if I lose momentum, I’ll never write again, so reading your words is hugely appreciated.

Thank you so much.

I’m going to try and send you a DM with a question later, if it doesn’t work I’ll email you - have a great evening, the weather is behaving very Marchly here…

I'm glad you keep going, struggle or not. Your words bring so much pleasure and insight to we readers, after all.

I haven't had any DMs yet, so if you do manage to send one, you'll be the first! Here, we had snow about a hundred metres higher than us and tonight it is set to freeze. In general though, our winter has been so warm, it is frightening.

Thank you Alex, I’m glad I keep going, it gives me an excuse to sit down apart from anything else!

I sent you a DM - later than expected but it’s done!

Yes, once again winter has been very mild here too, and wet!

Ooh, shall check that out after lunch! My first DM, thank you!

Stunning shots of the fog, and stunning words about the fog. There is something truly magical about it.

Thank you so much for your praise of The Sernox. That means a lot. It's a strange story, and I'm not sure it's for everyone, so I thank you for giving it a shout out 🤗

I can’t praise The Sernox enough Nathan, I didn’t want it to end… to me it held the same dreamy qualities of fog in many respects. From me nothing but deserved praise, I loved every word!

Thank you too for kind words and for subscribing. 🙏🏽🤍

Such a gorgeous reflection. Love the way you wrap the fog around your words. Beautiful. As we’ve discussed before, the words will arrive when they are meant to. And thank you so much for sharing our little call to arms.

PS … love the clarity of Susie Mawhinney as writer … a hill and I as the publication. Nice.

Enormous and heartfelt thanks for sharing again Barrie, and for the thumbs up re the rearranging of writer logo!.

I wrestled with the idea of removing my name, thinking it may have looked a little pretentious but decided in the end that it should be there! Thank you so much for the gentle shove in the right direction.

I hope you’ve had a gentle weekend!

There truly is something magical about fog melting away in the sunshine. As for time, it is sometimes much like fog isn’t it - endlessly enveloping us yet impossible to grasp! xx

I think that moment of dissipation as the wisps are burned away, when you can see them actually leaving and those sun rays burst through, is one of my favourite things to watch Vanessa… even now, after so many mornings, I am spellbound. It IS magic… !

Do you think people like us who can’t stop are the only ones who can’t grasp time? Maybe those who manage a slower pace are more capable of not letting it slip…? X
