Many thanks for reading Danielle, you will love The Old Ways, in fact any of Robert Macfarlanes books, there isn’t one I wouldn’t recommend with high praise. If only I could write as brilliantly….!

I dream….

I wish you a wonderful end to your week! xox

Many thanks for reading Ben, it helped calm your Covid fever a little then… 🤞🏽

As ever Susie your words transport me to a place unknown, but so beautifully described that it feels somehow familiar. Your description of the cows being molested by flies is just perfect for that must be exactly how it feels for the poor creatures! Xx

Huge thanks for reading Vanessa, I love that my hill feels familiar to you through my ramblings…

I always feel so sorry for the cows during the summer months, I wish I could make little fly fringes for them all to relieve their misery, poor creatures…they must be driven half crazy!

Have a great day… I hope you’re feeling the pleasure of some of the warm sun I keep hearing of in England! We have a few good days forecast too… not that they are lasting to the weekend! 🙄xx

Very fine ... could be re-living a Keats' hillside ... your 'leaflight' and the hare's moonlight ... nutrition for sure.😊👍

A hare in moonlight is quite possibly the most special moment I ever experienced Philip… and shimmering leaf light in stripes under canopies of trees… well who on this planet is not beguiled by that!

Sincere thanks for reading 🙏🏽

I close my eyes and I’m with you. We walk Susie, you and I, arm in and on your hill. In quiet reverence of the wonder and beauty that surrounds us. No words are needed, the silence is our conversation and we drink in the splendour of this stunning planet we call home. Thank you for inviting me to walk with you dearest Susie. Perhaps one day, I will walk there with you in more than my mind 💛 sending love and hugs

Oh Emily I truly hope so… how I would love for you to see all that inspires me in a way other than words and my blurry pics! One day… who knows what the future holds? Especially here where magic seems to be a daily offering!

Sending love right back lovely… I hope the sun is shining for you 💛🍃xx

That chemin looks beautiful. Oddly, I was just searching for the translation of "tilleul". I think that is what smelled so good everywhere in Cahors -- big trees with tiny yellow blossoms. Does that make sense?

There were almost definitely Tilieul Betty, the scent is Devine, it is wafting into my kitchen as I type!

The chemin I will write about in great detail at some point, it is a so try I’ve been trying to get down on paper for ages and never seem to find the time.., there is always something else more pressing!

Enjoy your evening… sunshine at last! X

We don’t get that scent among our upper reaches (625m where I live and also Rodez.) It was all over Cahors, however.

I know I’ve said this before… I wish I could take your hand and show you this wild place, step with you through the stubble and the heatwaves, listen to the cicada… I’m sure there are far more beautiful places in this planet but this is my beautiful place, it means the world that you feel even a tiny part of it through my words Kimberly. Thank you, thank you 🍃xxx

I would love that, Susie. If ever I get it together to go and visit an ex-lover in the Lot or dear friends in the Cévennes, perhaps I might detour your way! X

I’ve never had the pleasure of walking with you on your beloved hill. I thought the summer solstice would be the perfect time. I believe I am somewhat of a kindred spirit . One who is drawn to the familiarity of taking the same path. Every day. Like walking with an old friend . Peacefully taking notice with all senses tuned in. In each season, dawn till dusk, changing weather.

A deep love that gently captures your soul.

Thank you for sharing the essence of your beautiful hill .

I’m delighted you joined me Lor, did you bring Ranger too? I think he might enjoy the ride… I believe you may indeed be a kindred spirit having read many of your comments elsewhere… it’s hard to divert a magnetic pole in my humble opinion… thank you for reading and wandering with me.

Robert Frost is one of my early poetry obsessions, I still use his words as quotes .

Inspiring, makes me want to try nature writing. Or I could just revel in yours!

Yay! You’d make it sound fabulously off beat and wacky Anna… something I try and fail miserably at and you know what, nature is completely bonkers mostly!

Glad midsommar as we say in these parts.

Thanks for the southerly wander. I loved the Hare, I’m also bewitched by their mysterious elegance. I know so well too the being part of nature and not an observer.

Wonderful again, Susie, beautiful evocative writing.

Against all the odds this week, I think I just managed to post within 24 hours of the actual solstice… I wish you to, therefore, a Gald midsummer also… I am always so appreciative of your reading and commenting Jonathan, thank you most sincerely, I am completely beguiled by your essays which means your comments mean the world to me.

I wish you a gentle weekend, hopefully melded into nature…

Jo, I wish you could wander up that lane with me too… and over the hill down to the river… perhaps you might bring some sunshine in a little backpack… just a ray or two to lighten our way…?

Huge thanks lovely lady, belated happy birthday hugs, I am about to read your post… it’s the first chance I’ve had to sit quietly in days… thank goodness for weekends!!

I hope yours is wonderful ♥️xxx

Yes Susie thank you, I thoroughly enjoyed your/our wander through the summer months. And I didn't even notice you were "late." 😊

Loved the song of summer and the swaying daisies. So appreciated your observation of the hare. And that track - eerie and magical. Just love it all. Wish I could just pop over for a wander myself!

Thank you for all that you do. xx 💖
