Oh the yearning for snow! I feel you sister. It is my first winter in coastal British Columbia and the weathers leaves much to be desired for my inland wintery heart. It snowed but some weeks ago, a beautiful wonderland of white blankets and time stopped in a moment held between breaths, until the rain came and....well...you know the rest. Sodden earth, feet squishing in mud. This is life for now. A lady can dream though <3
A Huge thank you for your kind words Barrie, I use a lens that adds a bit of blur to the image, actually an excuse for out of focus shots because my eyes are not as well behaved as they used to be! It’s called a Lensbaby Sweet 50. Most of the lenses they sell are creative lenses though I’m not a fan of some of them, nor the price!
I am an avid weather watcher also, often I’ll check three different forecasts just to be certain, though all are endlessly wrong! You probably have the best idea; just look out of the window! I have a feeling that may have been our one and only chance for snow his winter, it certainly won’t be marked as a memorable occasion, a few flakes and it was over...
Another beauty. Your images are gorgeous. Maybe Vanessa Simpson mentioned a type of lens - and of course the knowledge has deserted my brain and gone out to look at the sky for snowflakes. There was a flurry here, sneaking up on me as I pedalled. JoJo is a keen follower of the Meteo app so she could have warned me, had I been warn'able (not sure that's a thing). I tend to look out the window and say "looks okay". Despite a few dry days leading up to the flurry, nothing lay. We seem to be in a relatively mild spot though the winds have sharp teeth. Love your excitement for the white stuff. Fingers crossed for you. B
I love this Susie and resonate completely. It seems you and I mirror each other with our content sometimes as I just talked about snowflakes today also, despite it being mid summer here. Certainly I did not talk about snow as eloquently as you though! I love that you get so excited, because so do I. I am known to scream to the whole household to come running if there is just one whiff of a flake. I can dance outside spinning in that hope for hours. You describe it perfectly.
Isn’t it strange the delirium snow causes those who love it? As a child it’s understandable certainly but now we are adults? It makes me smile... and yes, me too, the screaming and dancing are commonplace here too. My husband thinks I’m completely bonkers... he doesn’t understand at all what snow can do to the emotions, neither does he try! His loss...!
You’re always so generous with your compliments Jo, I am not altogether certain they were deserved (yes, I’m having a bad writing week-month even-although I dearly hope not. This weekend I’ve closed my laptop and am not even going to try in the hope that abstinence will trigger a whole dictionary of words that flow beautifully and leave jaws agape.
Well a girl can dream can’t she!
The snow avoided us once again, I could see it glowing in the afternoon sun on distant mountains but I could have counted the flakes hat fell here on one hand! Enjoy your weekend Jo, I really hope your beating the virus now xx
May you awaken tomorrow to “silence only deep snow can carry”❄️ I, too, relish snowfall! Sometimes, just to calm my nerves, I’ll close my eyes and imagine a dark forest blanketed and recite Frost’s line “to watch the woods fill up with snow.”
How I would have smiled had that been the case Kimberly... sadly and predictably, just a few flakes of snow fell, melted and that was as much as dear Mother Nature was sharing. There are many days of winter left though, plenty of time for dreaming... x
Sadly no... as predicted just a few flakes of wet unsightly snow and it was all over Roselle. There is still time yet though. Did you have any where you are? I know some parts of France had enough to close schools! If only... x
You sun up perfectly what it is to wish for snow, and of course how those dreams can so quickly melt. There must be a message there somewhere. En joy it while it lasts! ❄️❄️❄️
Ahh, thank you Alex lovely, sadly about ten flakes fell from the sky and that was that! We often get snow though towards the end of January so I’m still keeping everything crossed here... i hope your day is beautiful, blue sky and spring air is predominant here today... it’s such a relief! X
Ohh, that is terribly kind Ann, thank you from me heart for those words. Sadly the snow was predictable and lasted all of a few minutes but the magic was ever present while it did. I’m praying there still might be at least one day though... 🤞🏽
The snow didn’t arrive here either Lynn, a few flakes and as predicted, nothing further... I always feel just a little cheated, though it happens every year nearly. I am far too believe ing in these forecasts...
I hope your weekend is wonderful nonetheless and yes, there is still time for snow!
As a child of Africa, I am enchanted by snow, and I wish for it every winter, now that I'm in the UK. But sadly, where I live it is a sporadic occurrence. Apparently it does snow on the IOW occasionally! I completely get your excitement!
It’s crazy really given the accidents and damages it causes isn’t it! But I am literally like a child when I see snow falling Debs, and I grew up in a part of the world where snow fell every winter! So I can well imagine the level of excitement you reach! Needless to say, here it really didn’t happen, at least nothing to get excited about anyway! Maybe next time!
While I think of it and you’re here reading, my schedule is all over the place at the moment, we are having to contend with absences due winter bugs, changes if class due work experience and the annual skiing trip too... basically, you name it! The zoom call must sadly be put on the back burner for the moment (possibly along with Barrie’s encouragement session although I haven’t a schedule for that week yet so I’m praying not... so I was hoping you wouldn’t mind kicking off the story again and I’ll leap in (probably head first..) a little further along!
If that’s ok with you of course lovely? Have a great weekend x
It is ridiculous really, my love of snow... considering the chaos it causes everywhere, including wet clothes, terrifying car journeys, especially here where every road is a hill but I will never not be enchanted by a white and perfect landscape and that silence... I could live with that all year round Pipp. The older I become the more I search and need silence.
We didn’t get our snow, of course! And I too am thinking of driving a little way north to spend a day wandering without noise...
Thanks always lovely and thanks for sharing - sending love x

That sounds uplifting Susie. Here is grey, cold, damp and grey…. But joy of joy, I am about to make some marmalade 🧡
I share your snow-hunger, Susie. It helps mine just to read your beautiful and vivid winter thoughts. ❄️💙

I share your love of snow, Susie - we haven't had any to speak of this year, disappointingly. There is still time!

Thank you for your kindness and encouragement to a new writer, Susie. I'll go on doing my best.
You are very welcome David, you will be hugely welcomed here with such gentle and perceptive writings...

Definitely... how about tomorrow? I’m having a sharp stab of imposter syndrome here... ! X
